Who We Are

SHARE is a non Profit Charity that provides Vocational, Recreational and Residential programs for adults living with a mental illness in Prince Albert and surrounding area.

One in five people will have a mental health problem at some point in their lives and because of stigma, many don't seek out treatment or support that they need.

 

This organization was established in 1983 in Prince Albert by a group of concerned citizens in Prince Albert and area who themselves had experiences with mental health problems. They identified a gap in the continuum service from the time they leave the hospital to the meaningful way to return as a contributing member of society.

 

S.H.A.R.E plays an important role in supporting individuals with mental health challenges and enhancing their quality of life by offering various forms of assistance and support.

 

S.H.A.R.E. is managed  by a volunteer Board or Directors, where the Executive Director reports to the board on a regular basis, providing accountability and activity reports, as well as identifying ongoing service needs in the community.

 

The board and the commitment of their employees has been a huge asset to the community and dealing with those who struggle to overcome their concerns and uncomfortable interaction about seeking help.

 

S. H.A.R.E.  funding comes from community fundraising, financial donations from corporate partners and their aim is strive to be self-sustaining.

As a Not- For -Profit charity, all revenues are generated back into the ongoing operations to assist adults living with mental illness.

 

The facilities located on 17th St. and 6th Ave. West in Prince Albert, ,  houses a retrofit  office administration building and a warehouse.

Our History

S.H.A.R.E. has been working and contributing to those with mental illness in Prince Albert and area for over 40 years. 

 

Over the past 15 years there has been a significant growth in the number of adults living with mental illness in the Prince Albert area. To help accommodate these numbers, S.H.A.R.E has seen an expansion in both programs, activities and facilities

 

There is not a day that goes by when they are not thanks for the great jobs provided by their members, the members are so proud of the work they do and never hesitate to take on a job.

 

Part of the success of the organization, is the age range of members from 19 to 70 years old ,who show up to work every day regardless of the weather or the changing needs in the market.

Some members have been part of the organization for over 30 years ,with the average being 10 years on the job.

It's truly amazing to see such dedication by these great people, their self- worth and sense of belonging has great impact  through the services provided.
